Denis E. Maddox, M.D.

Denis E. MaddoxDr. Maddox completed his specialty training in cardiology at Harvard Medical School and Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston. His three years of fellowship training included two years devoted primarily to clinical research. His special areas of interest have been interventional cardiology, including angioplasty, stents and pacemakers-but also non-invasive diagnostic testing such as cardiac and vascular ultrasound and nuclear cardiology. He has published several original articles in major cardiology journals and has presented his findings at scientific meetings.

Medical School was completed at Loma Linda University in Southern California and residency training at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena and at the University of California, Davis.

For the past 21 years Dr. Maddox has been in private practice of cardiology in Bakersfield, California. He participated in founding the first cardiovascular specialty hospital in the state of California, the Bakersfield Heart Hospital. The planning for this highly regarded project began in 1994 and the first patients were admitted for care in 1999. The hospital is rated among the top 5% nationwide in quality of care, both for cardiac surgery and cath lab procedures-especially for high standards of care for acute heart attacks. The hospital models the improved outcomes and shorter length of hospital stay characteristic of specialty heart hospitals nationwide.

Dr Maddox' office is located only a few steps away from his hospitalized patients, on the campus of the Bakersfield Heart Hospital.
